What Will You Learn?
Using online learning, confined and open water dives, the SSI Scuba Diver program is a perfect foundation to become a confident and safe diver. You will learn all you need to scuba dive in open water up to 12 meters deep with an SSI Professional. In this program, you will complete almost half of the Open Water Diver course training and can upgrade your certification easily. You just need to complete the remaining academic and confined water sessions, plus two open water training dives.
The SSI Scuba Diver course consists of three main phases:
- Three Academic Sessions (Independent study or in a classroom)- This is primarily to understand the basic principles of scuba diving and the functions of scuba equipment.
- Three Pool/Confined Water Sessions- Dives conducted in swimming pools, to help you master essential underwater and equipment skills
- Two Open Water Training Dives- Where its time to use the knowledge and skills you acquired, in the open ocean to complete the SSI Scuba Diver Course.
What Will You Do?
- Complete the Digital Learning materials found in this manual. These materials are self-paced, and you can complete them anywhere, anytime, once you download them to your MySSI app
- Complete the Academic Sessions and Pool/Confined Water Sessions with your SSI Dive Professional
- Complete the Open Water Training Dives
Course Schedule
Recommended hours for completion: 10-16. The number of classes, hours and sessions per day are set by the individual instructor, based on student needs, student ability and water conditions.
