What Will You Learn?
Underwater photography has some challenges not found on land, but with the SSI Photo & Video specialty program, you will soon learn how to capture your amazing underwater experiences.
This program provides the in-depth knowledge you need to dive with an underwater camera and properly use, maintain and store your equipment. You will develop your skills and learn techniques to take underwater images and video safely and easily, plus perfect your diving abilities while using your underwater camera system.
The SSI Photo and Video Course consists of two main phases:
- Six Academic Sessions (Independent study or in a classroom)
- Five Open Water Dives- Where its time to use the knowledge and skills you acquired, in the open ocean to complete the SSI Photo and Video Course.

What Will You Do?
- Complete all academic sessions and assessments outlined in the instructor manual for Photo andVideo.
- Complete the program’s final exam.
- Complete at least two (2) in-water training sessions as outlined in the instructor manual for Photo and Video
Course Schedule
Recommended hours for completion: 5-10. The number of classes, hours and sessions per day are set by the individual instructor, based on student needs, student ability and water conditions.
