What Will You Learn?
As an SSI Freediving Level 2 instructor, you are a seasoned pro. Once you certify 100 students from different levels, you can join other elite freediving instructors with the SSI Freediving Level 3 Instructor upgrade. Freediving Level 3 is the apex of the SSI freediving system. Guide your students to increase their average breath holding time and break freediving records, all while discovering new depths and mastering their technique.

The SSI Freediving Instructor Level 3 Course consists of three main phases:
- One Academic Sessions (Independent study or in a classroom)
- One Pool / Confined Water Sessions
- One Open Water Dives – Where its time to use the knowledge and skills you acquired, in the open ocean to complete the SSI Freediving Instructor Level 3 Course.
Maximum Training Depth : 50 meter / 150 feet
What Will You Do?
- Read and complete Section 10, including reviews and assessments, of the Freediving InstructorTraining Course digital learning.
- Complete Academic Session 10 as outlined in the instructor manual for the Freediving InstructorTraining Course.
- Complete the program’s final exam.
- Complete the CandidateWater Fitness Evaluation as outlined in the SSI Training Standards if it has been more than six months since the candidate has been evaluated.
- Pass all requirements and evaluations for Practical Application Sessions 2 and 6–12 as outlined in the instructor manual for the InstructorTraining Course.
Course Schedule
Recommended hours for completion: 24-32. The number of classes, hours and sessions per day are set by the individual instructor, based on student needs, student ability and environmental conditions.

Course Prerequisites
Minimum age: 18 years old.
Have the following SSI certi,cations or equivalent from a recognized training agency:
• Freediving Level 3
Have the following active status SSI certi,cations (no equivalency permitted):
• Freediving Level 2 Instructor
Have issued at least:
• 30 Basic Freediving, Pool Freediving, and/or Freediving Level 1 certifications
• 20 Freediving Level 2 certifications
Equipment Requirements
Unless the program-specific instructor manual states otherwise, each freediving student must be equipped with a properly fitted Total Freediving System, including:
• Mask
• Snorkel
• Bi-fins(standard length or long freediving fins)
• Exposure suit appropriate for the environment
• Weight System
• Logbook
Students are required to wear a freediving safety lanyard if any of the following conditions apply:
• Level 2 Freediving programs and higher
• Vertical visibility is less than 10 meters
• The planned freedive is deeper than 20 meters in depth
• On any site where the natural bottom depth is 30 meters or deeper
*Equipment will be provided by your Dive Centre. We recommend that you should get your own gear once you become a certified diver.
